The music industry has become one of the leading industries in terms of net worth. Musicians are being paid more than ever before. With the emergence of the ongoing pandemic, online concerts have also seen a huge surge in popularity. This has helped musicians to generate several income streams altogether and earn from performing live on social media platforms or holding virtual concerts.

Over the last year alone, many artists made millions with their songs. Here is a list, assembled by the former Forbes correspondent, Zack O’Malley Greenburg; which consists of the top ten musicians who have the highest income among their fellow musicians.

Bruce Springsteen

Old age couldn’t put a halt to 72-year-old Bruce’s music career. Bruce recently made a deal with Sony Music selling his publishing and recorded music rights for a whopping $550 million. According to the sources, the deal was signed in December, making Bruce Springsteen the top paid musician of 2022.  

Jay-Z

Shawn Corey Carter, who goes by the name of Jay-Z in the music industry, also has made a fortune selling his records & from his songs. According to Forbes, Jay-Z ranks second on the top paid musicians list with an income of $470 million.

Paul Simon

Being in the industry for more than six decades, Paul Simon has made his name worthy of being on this list. He entered this year with $260 million in his pockets from his contracts in the past year.

Kanye West

Probably one of the biggest names in the industry, it goes without saying that Kanye has built himself a fortune that his generations could spend for years. Kanye earned a total of $250 million last year.

Ryan Tedder

The leading vocalist of the pop-rock band OneRepublic isn’t far behind in the list. He also has a figure to boast about. Rayn ended 2021 and stepped into 2022 with $200 million in revenue.

Taylor Swift

The only woman on the list and who else but the breakup songs queen, Taylor Swift. The youngest on the list has made over $80 million in the past year & is only looking forward to earning even more in the coming years.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

With over 100 million records sold worldwide, Red Hot Chili Peppers are certainly the most popular band of all time. Their earnings for the last year were not too bad either. With over $145 million earned in the last year, they are stepping into the new year with the goal to achieve more.

Lindsey Buckingham

Besides being a proud member of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” club, Lindsey started the new year with good money made the year before. He earned $100 million and is still striving to make the numbers go up.

Motley Crue

Just short of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motley Crue, is the second band that has made this list by earning over $95 million in the past year.

Blake Shelton

The famous country music singer has also kept his tracks balanced with the new generation of rock. Blake Shelton made 83 million dollars last year.
